If this your first visit to our site, Welcome to Lille Cricket! If you are coming back for another look, thanks for that and we hope you will keep returning – and come along to see us at Friday training – ideal for establishing your cricket technique.
2010 has started with a light sprinkling of snow over Lille. This does not stop Lille Cricket as we continue our indoor training, at Decathlon Campus in Villeneuve d’Ascq, on Friday evenings at 7pm. Come along and meet us – and join in – but I recommend that you check first on the “Practice” page of this website as the hall is not available to us every Friday. However, we will be running four extra junior only training sessions on Wednesday evenings in March, part of our youth development program aimed at having an active junior team for the 2010 season.
The first big event of the year is planned for Sunday 31 January, at Decathlon Campus, with junior and senior indoor cricket matches against Arcadians CC, Ghent. We hope this will warm us up to be able to take part in the qualifying stages of the French National Indoor Championships, hoping to qualify for the finals which will be at the end of March. Then we will move outdoor, back to our summer training ground provided by the Ronchin Baseball club – still on Friday evenings – to prepare for our first games of the season – 24 April at the Jardin Mosaic and 2 May in Whistable, Kent.
We are planning to set up training nets at Ronchin and are saving up for a bowling machine, so plenty will be going on in 2010 – so if you want to come along and join in on Friday evenings, you will be most welcome.
